Society of Transplant Imaging and Intervention, India

President Message

The Society of Transplant Imaging and Intervention (STII), is a newly formed professional society which is an offshoot of Clinical Radiology.

An organ transplant requires a team approach. The role of radiologists includes both pre transplant work up and post-procedural management as per need. Interaction with other involved specialities also plays, a key role.

India continues to develop in terms of infrastructure and manpower. Renal and bone marrow transplants were started as early as the 1970s in India. Subsequently, expertise extended to other organs such as liver and heart. There are several centres in the country providing patient care on par with international standards. Some of these centres now also provide health care to international patients. It is now good to see that there is also ongoing social awareness for organ donation in the country.

As a professional society, we would like to provide a common platform for health professionals to share their knowledge and ideas. This, along with input from overseas experts will contribute towards further growth of the speciality.

Overall, we wish to grow as a team in optimising patient care.

President, STII
